Well we’ve got something a bit special here to wrap up 2009 for Nerve. Two of Scotland’s best producers go head to head, remixing each other’s material and moulding the tracks into their own inimitable shape.

First up we’ve got Morphy taking on “Tuva” (From Linden’s “Hidden EP”). The original was a techy beast of a track and I was keen to see what Morphy would do it. He’s stripped all the elements back, coated it in lush analogue warmth and delivered an amazing chunk of movie soundtrack style dnb. Dipping it’s toes into the world of IDM and ambient but retaining the dark dubby groove he’s become known for.

Next up we’ve got Linden taking on Morphy’s “Samsara” (NERVE023). The original was an dubby amen roller with an eastern vibe and Linden’s again stripped back the original elements and delivered an atmospheric bass monster that’s guaranteed to fill the more discerning dancefloor.

Inner Disbelief / 5th Floor

Exit Records bring their busy 2009 release schedule to a close with this outstanding 12” from label owner dBridge, featuring two tracks that have been consistently played over the last few months by djs such as Goldie, Friction, Alix Perez, SpectraSoul, Fabio, Doc Scott and Marcus Intalex amongst others.

A 12” getting massive DJ support from across the scene. ‘Inner Disbelief’ is reminiscent of some of dBridge’s Gemini Principle LP tracks with a more dance floor friendly edge, but as usual without compromising quality control. It’s yet another example of dBridge using his vocal talent to compliment his productions and create his signature flavour of “aggressively beautiful” music. A re-arranged piano hook sample layered upon a moody bass line and driving beat provide the backing for this very catchy and listenable song.

On the flip we have another track from dBridge entitled ‘5th Floor’. What appears at first to be quite a sparse track slowly builds into an all out roller with its musical elements becoming more and more frequent and drums gradually layering up to create pace and energy. This track screams out classic dBridge in every sense with its clever use of musical stabs, eerie atmospheres and growling sub bass.

I'm waiting for Porcelain for a long while and it's definitely one of the tunes this year.

09.09. Aufs Mowl @ Zeughaus

Am Freitag, den 09.10, gibt's im Zeughaus die volle Ladung Drum & Bass aufs Mowl! Es werden alle Spielarten, von Minimal über Wobble bis Tech, vertreten sein.

Das Zeughaus befindet sich am Assispielplatz, zwischen Theaterplatz und Windischenstraße. Los geht's um 20:00, Eintritt gibt's keinen und Bier wird zu humanen Preisen verkauft.

Der Rave wird sich auch länger erstrecken, als der Zwiebelmarkt. Müsst also keine Angst haben, dass um 1:00 schon Schluss ist (noch lange nicht!).

Ich möchte nur kurz auf eine Umfrage der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaften e.V. mit dem Schwerpunkt digitale Musik und Netlabels hinweisen.
